Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to provide advanced clinical and administrative support in Ophthalmology at the St. Louis campus.

You will gather medical information and perform visual screening before the ophthalmologist's visit. The role includes visual field testing, patient history, contact lens care, A-scan ultrasound, and assisting with minor surgeries. A high school diploma and BLS certification are required, with prior ophthalmic office

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support certification required (online certs not sufficient).
• Supervised ophthalmologic office for 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs kinetic and static visual fields tests (Goldman & Humphrey).
• Assists with patient history and work up in clinic.
• Inserts/removes contact lenses and provides care instructions.
• Performs A-scan ultrasound and other testing as needed.
• Assists physicians with minor surgical procedures.
