Job summary

Florida Eye Specialists in the Jacksonville area seeks an Ophthalmic Tester to perform initial testing for exams, using OCT and imaging tech to prepare patients for ophthalmic evaluations. The role requires strong communication, organization, and patient interaction skills, with HIPAA compliance as a must.

After a successful 90-day probation, full-time staff receive benefits including base pay, PTO/holidays, short- and long-term disability, and 401k with profit sharing after one year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred.
• Experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform OCT, anterior segment photography, visual field, and fundus photography tests.
• Upload imaging and test results to patient charts.
• Scan documents, prior authorizations, and other paperwork into the chart.
• Verify letters (Diabetes, Plaquenil, referral, etc.) have been sent to the appropriate doctor or send if not.
• Call labs (Quest) when the scribe is unavailable.
• Handle recalls and downtime between patients.
• Interact with patients with respect and professionalism.
• Comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.

Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Tester is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Complete all the testing for OCT, anterior segment photography, Visual Field, Fundus photography
• Upload any results of imaging and testing
• Scanning documents, prior authorizations, other paperwork into patients’ chart
• Verifying letters (Diabetes, Plaquenil, Referral, etc.) have been sent to appropriate Doctor from previous day, and if not sending the letter
• Calling for labs (Quest) when needed when scribe is unavailable
• Recalls in-between patients and downtime
• Interact with all patients using a high level of respect and professionalism
• Comply with HIPPA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing),
• standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds.
• Travel to other offices, including Surgery Center, as needed
