Job summary

Florida Eye Specialists in the Jacksonville area is seeking an Ophthalmic Tester to support pre-exam testing using OCT and photography. The role partners with clinicians to prepare patients for exams, schedule imaging, and maintain accurate records.

Full-time position with benefits after the probationary period, including PTO, holidays, STD/LTD, and 401(k) with profit sharing after one year. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Responsibilities

• Call for labs when a scribe is unavailable.
• Recalls between patients and downtime.
• Interact with patients with respect and professionalism.
• Comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards.

Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Tester is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Complete all the testing for OCT, anterior segment photography, Visual Field, Fundus photography
• Upload any results of imaging and testing
• Scanning documents, prior authorizations, other paperwork into patients’ chart
• Verifying letters (Diabetes, Plaquenil, Referral, etc.) have been sent to appropriate Doctor from previous day, and if not sending the letter
• Calling for labs (Quest) when needed when scribe is unavailable
• Recalls in-between patients and downtime
• Interact with all patients using a high level of respect and professionalism
• Comply with HIPPA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred
• Experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing),
• standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds.
• Travel to other offices, including Surgery Center, as needed
