Job summary

SightMD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians with both clinical and administrative duties across our New Rochelle, NY locations. You will prepare patients, assist during procedures, perform vision screening, manage instruments, and help with charting while following HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities include pre-exam testing (acuity, tonometry), post-operative instructions, instrument maintenance, and coordinating with the care team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
• COA certification or enrolled within one year and completion within two years of hire.
• Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Skilled in problem-solving with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable engaging in face-to-face interactions with patients and staff.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Greet and communicate with patients and families with care and respect.
• Initiate patient evaluations by documenting chief complaint and history.
• Coordinate prior authorizations for medications for timely access.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity and tonometry.
• Conduct advanced diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus photography, etc.).
• Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.
