Job summary

SightMD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians across our multiple locations. You will perform a range of clinical and administrative duties, prepare patients, assist with procedures, and ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires COA certification (or enrollment within 1 year) and at least 1 year of ophthalmic tech experience. Excellent customer service, organization, and the ability to stand for long periods are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of Ophthalmic Technician experience.
• COA certification required or enrolled within one year and completion within two years of hire.
• Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and maintain patient comfort.

Responsibilities

• Greet and communicate with patients and their families in a caring, respectful manner.
• Initiate patient evaluations by documenting chief complaint, history, and pertinent information.
• Coordinate and obtain prior authorizations for medications per insurance requirements.
• Perform pre-exam testing: visual acuity, confrontation fields, tonometry, dilation.
• Conduct advanced diagnostic testing: OCT, fundus photography, biometrics, keratometry, visual field testing.
• Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.
• Complete prescription refill requests with physician authorization and proper documentation.
• Educate patients on medication use and provide pre/post-operative instructions.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and lens care instructions.
