Job summary

EyeSouth Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe for North Georgia Eye Associates in Gainesville, GA. The role involves supporting clinicians with exam testing, recording patient histories and visual acuity, and serving as a medical scribe in the EMR.

The ideal candidate will have ophthalmic/optometric technician experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; related experience preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Ophthalmic/optometric technician experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by exam type, patient history or complaint.
• Act as a medical scribe while the physician examines the patient and enters data into EMR.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity accurately.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and ensure informed consent is obtained.
• Assist with patient education and information.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms and comply with procedures and regulations.

We are actively recruiting for an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe to join our growing team at North Georgia Eye Associates.

Clinical

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
• Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records
• Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.
• Assists with patient education.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
• Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.

Administrative

• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership timely and as needed for supply ordering
• Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as planned and required.
• Understand and accept responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer
• Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
• Maintain positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism
• High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
