Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine in Manhattan is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (FGP) to support ophthalmology services and diagnostic testing. The role involves testing and measuring eye function to aid physicians in diagnosing and treating eye disorders, including acuity and visual field testing, and handling eye medications and examinations.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma, extensive ophthalmic tech experience in retina practice preferred, and COA certification or progress

Qualifications

• To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred.
• Certified Opthalmic Assistant (COA) from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) approved institutional course preferred or working towards obtaining certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• All Patient Correspondence including but not limited to: Disability Forms, Patient Education, Surgical Consent Forms.
• Slit Lamp Examinations
• Completes Medical History, Lensometry, Auto Refracting, Pam Testing, Glare Testing.
• Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and Visual Field Testing.
