Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine in Manhattan is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (FGP) for the Ophthalmology department. The role tests and measures eye function to support the ophthalmologist in diagnosing and treating eye disorders, including acuity, color perception, and intraocular pressure, and uses slit lamp exams.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and 5+ years in retina practice; COA certification or active pursuit is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 5+ years as an ophthalmic technician in a retina practice preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from JCAHPO-approved course preferred or working toward certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs slit lamp examinations and visual acuity testing.
• Manages patient history, lensometry, auto refracting, and various eye tests.
• Performs all aspects of Visual Field Testing and intraocular pressure measurements.
• Handles patient correspondence and related forms as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
