Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to provide primary ophthalmic care under moderate supervision. You will perform history intake, preliminary exams, and a broad set of tests and imaging, supporting doctors and patient flow.

Responsibilities include front-desk support when needed, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve service quality. Requires 2 years of ophthalmic tech experience, and COT/COA within 180 days.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years' experience as an ophthalmic technician or ophthalmic assistant.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) within 180 Days.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) within 180 Days.
  • CPR (AHA/ARC) including BLS/NRP within 90 days.
  • Associate degree in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquaints patients with procedures, explains tests and sequences.
  • Maintains smooth patient flow and data collection under supervision.
  • Audits clinical supplies and troubleshoots instruments as needed.
  • Performs a wide range of ophthalmic tests and imaging.
  • Provides front desk coverage and handles calls/appointments when needed.
