Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a diligent Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians by performing diagnostic tests, taking ocular measurements, and preparing patients for examinations. The role emphasizes patient education, accurate charting, and teamwork in a clinical setting.

The candidate should hold a COA certification (or be able to obtain within 12 months) and have experience with EMR systems, ideally NextGen. Willingness to work flexible hours and rotate locations is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; COA certification required or obtainable within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to type at least 60 wpm.
• Experience with EMR systems, preferably NextGen.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with patients professionally and explain tests to patients and families.
• Prepare patients for examinations and document ocular histories.
• Perform diagnostic tests and record accurate ocular measurements.
• Administer ophthalmic drops and ointments under physician direction.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and assist with scribing as needed.
• Review patient charts for completeness and coordinate patient flow.
