Job summary

Northwest Eyes is a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice seeking a Per Diem Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. We train and support staff while delivering outstanding patient care in a collaborative clinic setting.

You will assist ophthalmologists with patient workups, diagnostic tests, and eye care instructions. This role emphasizes accurate documentation, teamwork, and flexible scheduling in a dynamic clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of ophthalmic assistant experience; COA/COT preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic software is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close exam lanes and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Communicate patient flow with the team to keep schedules on time.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and waiting area.
  • Complete documents such as consent forms and work releases.
  • Take patient medical histories and perform ophthalmic diagnostic exams.
  • Operate ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
  • Sterilize instruments to maintain ophthalmic equipment.
  • Instruct patients on eye care and treatment.
  • Ensure medical records are accurate and complete.
  • Triage phone calls from patients and outside contacts.
  • Maintain flexibility and perform other duties as required.

Job Summary:

Northwest Eyes is a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice. We are searching for a Per Diem Ophthalmic Technician to add to our team. Our Company is nationally recognized, with vast clinical experience in a wide variety of eye surgical services, advanced technology, and proven results. Work in a team-oriented clinical environment, taking pride in and providing outstanding patient care. Team members are responsible for providing accurate documentation. Maintain patient flow and communication regarding appointment status. Assist Ophthalmologists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions, such as patient workups and special testing. May administer eye medications and instruct the patient in the care and treatment of eye conditions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Open and close exam lanes and ensure all supplies are stocked

Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, G-suite environments.
  • Willing to help in all areas; have the flexibility to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills and ability to convey ideas and information verbally and in writing
  • Professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and patient confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant; experienced COA or COT preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical coding terminology and conventions preferred
  • Maintains appropriate education and training.
