Job summary

Northeast-Ohio-Eye-Surgeons is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to greet patients, perform diagnostic tests, and support physicians in procedures. You will document medical history, maintain EMR accuracy, and educate patients on medication use and pre/post-operative instructions.

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and a valid driver's license. A strong emphasis on patient care and HIPAA compliance is required.

Qualifications

• EMR experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong patient communication and de-escalation skills.
• Familiarity with HIPAA requirements and medical record handling.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and explain what to expect during appointment.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and perform diagnostic tests (visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry).
• Document chief complaint, medical history, and updates in EMR per physician requirements.
• Record information accurately in EMR and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist with minor procedures, injections, and laser treatments as directed.
• Educate patients on medication use and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Prepare patients for sterile procedures and assist the physician during procedures.
• Maintain clinic environment and sterilization practices.
