Job summary

Cleveland Eye Clinic is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to greet patients, explain procedures, and escort them to exam rooms. You will perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry, then document findings in the EMR under physician supervision.

The role involves maintaining a clean clinic environment, assisting with minor surgeries and injections, and educating patients on medications and pre/postoperative care while staying current with ocular knowledge and HIPAA

Qualifications

• EMR experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is desired.
• Entry level position with typical 0–3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients to gather information and enter it into the EMR system.
• Communicates to patients what to expect during the visit and notifies them of delays or changes.
• Documents chief complaint, history of present illness, and past medical history.
• Records all information in the EMR according to standards.
• Conducts tests of eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.
• Applies eye drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicates eyes.
• Assists with minor surgery procedures, injections, and laser treatments in exam/treatment rooms.
• Educates patients on medication administration and pre/postoperative instructions.
• Reads notes for physicians and documents accordingly.
• Maintains patient information and HIPAA compliance.
