Job summary

Paylocity seeks an Ophthalmic Technician I to support the clinical team with high-quality patient care and diagnostic testing. You will document patient histories, assist with refractions, measure eye pressure, and administer medications as prescribed.

Travel between Piedmont and other offices is expected, with strict HIPAA adherence and teamwork. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently within a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• An associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
• 2–3 years ophthalmic/optometric technician experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel between multiple locations as needed.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the healthcare team.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document comprehensive patient history.
• Follow office workup protocols to support patient flow.
• Determine visual acuity and perform automated refraction.
• Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions.
• Measure intraocular pressure (tonometry) accurately.
• Prepare patients for pre-operative procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment.
• Enter data into the EMR and provide direct patient services.
• Recognize symptoms or test result inconsistencies and report findings.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and company policies.
• Demonstrate initiative and stay informed on ophthalmic practices.
• Travel to multiple office locations as required.
