Qualifications

Job description

Description

The Ophthalmic Technician provides patient care in both clinic and procedural settings.


This is a full-time position working Monday - Thursday from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm and Friday from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm, primarily out of our Edina clinic. This role will involve traveling at least 1 day per week to an off-site clinic in Coon Rapids or Blaine.


Minnesota Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Specialists is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.


Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and maintains patient exam rooms

  • Room patients and obtain patient intake information

  • Conducts examination, including visual fields and digital imaging

  • Order labs, CT, and MRI when necessary

  • Assist in patient procedures taking place in both clinical and surgical setting

  • Accompanies Surgeon to satellite locations when needed

  • Instruct patients on medications, tests, and procedures

  • Coordinating patient scheduling

  • Follow up with patients regarding medical questions and patient education.

  • Complete all patient forms such as disability and return to work forms.

  • All other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Ophthalmic Certification or graduation from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program preferred

  • 3+ years of clinical ophthalmologic experience required

  • Work in the clinic, office or surgery center during business hours

  • Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or surgery center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required

  • Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines

  • Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner

  • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations

  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Understand and execute a variety of instructions

  • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

  • Travel to other work locations, if required
