Qualifications

• Current IJCAHPO certification as Certified Ophthalmic Assistant; Technician must obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
• Minimum 3 years recent experience providing technical support in an Ophthalmology practice.
• Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, anatomy, physiology of visual systems, and ophthalmic clinical protocols.
• Familiarity with computerized EHRs and patient appointment scheduling systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills for interactions with patients, physicians, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating patient care and clinic flow.
• Overseeing daily back-office operations and exam room readiness.
• Providing technical support for Ophthalmologists and Optometrists.
• Maintaining the perimetry and OCT/topography labs.
• Training and supporting ophthalmic staff.
• Assisting with process improvements and quality initiatives.
