St. Lucie Eye Associates in Florida seeks an ophthalmic technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists by gathering patient data, performing tests, and documenting findings in the EMR.

You will take ocular and systemic history, assist with in-office procedures, administer medications as directed, educate patients, and help maintain exam rooms while adhering to state and federal regulations. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as uncertified ophthalmic assistant preferred.
• COA Eligibility preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Review patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by exam type.
• Act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into EMR.
• Take ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Assist with in-office procedures and ensure informed consent.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms; comply with procedures and regulations.
