Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant at the Milwaukee site to support exam rooms, assist physicians, and perform ophthalmic screenings. The role requires attention to detail, patient education, and proficiency with EMR and Microsoft Office.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. No weekends or holidays. Pay range listed; benefits eligible. Must maintain sterile technique and assist with eyewear dispensing as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required; BLS certification within 6 months may be needed.
• 2 years of optometric/ophthalmic assistant experience with visual screenings and diagnostic tests.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, eye care, and contact/lens wear.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking supplies, and calibrating equipment.
• Prepares patient for exam and assists physician; records ocular/medical history and chief complaint.
• Performs diagnostic tests and visual screenings (glaucoma pressures, refractions, keratometry, A-Scans, etc.).
• Assists ophthalmologist with procedures and postoperative care.
• Performs medical eye photography as directed and assists with glasses/contact lens ordering.
