Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. The role involves assisting providers with diagnostic and treatment procedures and related administrative tasks in a vision-care setting.

The ideal candidate has medical experience and a passion for patient care; on-the-job training is available to build a career path as an ophthalmic technician or scribe.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in medical field or clinical support roles preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and MS Office is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and verify patient information.
  • Perform visual tests and measurements (tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy).
  • Use devices like Humphrey analyzer and OCT to collect data.
  • Notify ophthalmologist of changes in vision or acuity.
  • Dilate eyes and instruct on eye drop usage and meds.
  • Assist with inventory management and clinic tasks.

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. Our ideal candidate would have medical experience and passion for patient care. We are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work towards a career path of an ophthalmic technician or scribe. In this role, your primary tasks are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
  • Take medical histories and verify information
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
  • Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
  • Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
  • Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
  • Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
  • Explain how to properly use contact lenses
  • Assist with inventory management
Qualifications
What You Will Bring:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Previous experience in the medical field in roles such as a medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician etc.
  • Experience with EMR tools
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word)
  • Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus
