Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. The role assists providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks, with on-the-job training available for career development as an ophthalmic technician or scribe.

The ideal candidate will have medical experience and a passion for patient care, with responsibilities ranging from taking histories to performing eye measurements and helping with inventory management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in the medical field (medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician, etc.).
• Experience with EMR tools.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and verify information.
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy.
• Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements.
• Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues.
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam.
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications.
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses.
• Assist with inventory management.
