Job summary

EyeSouth Partners in Georgia is seeking an experienced ophthalmic support professional to join our retina-focused practice. The role involves clinical testing, chart reviews, and assisting physicians during exams, with attention to accuracy and patient care.

A strong team attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Responsibilities include data entry, medical scribing, patient education, and maintaining exam rooms, with a focus on quality and regulatory

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
  • Ophthalmic/optometric technician experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform testing as ordered and scheduled by the doctor.
  • Act as medical scribe and input data into electronic medical records.
  • Take ocular and systemic history and document visual acuity.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic medications under physician direction.
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness and organize supplies.
  • Support patient education and comply with procedures and regulations.
  • Participate in daily team huddles and meetings.

Job description

Clinical
  • Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
  • Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
  • Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records
  • Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
  • Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
  • Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.
  • Assists with patient education.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
  • Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.
Administrative
  • Report inventory and supply needs to leadership timely and as needed for supply ordering
  • Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as planned and required.
  • Understand and accept responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer
  • Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
  • Maintain positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
  • Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
  • Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
