Job summary

EyeSouth Partners is seeking an ophthalmic technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists in a fast-paced clinical setting in Metro Atlanta. The role involves gathering ocular health data, performing tests, and documenting findings in the EMR.

Responsibilities include chart reviews, assisting with procedures, administering medications under supervision, and educating patients while maintaining clinic standards.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Experience working in a fast-paced clinical environment is preferred.
• Nextech/ICP EMR experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform tests ordered by the doctor based on exam type, patient history, or complaints.
• Enter data into electronic medical records as a medical scribe.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Assist with patient education and maintain clean, orderly exam rooms.
• Comply with practice procedures and all State and Federal regulations.

Job description

Georgia Eye Partners is a specialty eye care practice in Metro Atlanta comprised of ophthalmologist and optometrists dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality medical and surgical eye care. Our services range from general eye care to complex surgical care for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disease, and refractice. We offer LASIK and other refractive surgery options as well as oculoplastic surgery and laser aethetic procedures through OPAL Aesthetics.

Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist and optometrists by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s ocular health status. The ophthalmic technician is proficient in performing appropriate clinical tests, drawing on formal education and/or clinical experience that provide a solid understanding of the theory and principles of eye care.

Clinical

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.


• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.


• Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records


• Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.


• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.


• Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.


• Assists with patient education.


• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.


• Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.

Administrative

• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership timely and as needed for supply ordering


• Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as planned and required.


• Understand and accept responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer


• Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.


• Maintain positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism


• High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred


• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred


• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
