Job summary

SightMD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians across our growing eye care network. You will assist with clinical intake, prepare examination rooms, perform basic vision screening, administer eye medications, and support minor surgical and laser procedures.

Requirements include a High School diploma, at least 1 year of Ophthalmic Technician experience, and a COA certification (or enrolled with completion within two years).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
• COA certification or enrollment with completion within two years of hire.
• Strong customer service with professional demeanor.
• Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking abilities.
• Detail oriented with ability to engage face-to-face with patients and staff.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet and communicate with patients and families with care and respect.
• Document chief complaint and medical history for evaluations.
• Coordinate prior authorizations for medications per insurance requirements.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity, dilation, and other assessments.
• Conduct advanced diagnostic testing such as OCT, fundus photography, and keratometry.
• Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.
• Prepare exam rooms, educate patients on medications, and assist with lens fittings.
• Maintain ophthalmic equipment, inventory, and ensure HIPAA compliance.
