Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Formal ophthalmic training preferred.
• Some college coursework in anatomy and medical terminology is a plus.
• JCAHPO certification (COA/COT/CMOT) is required within 12 months of hire if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and document in the electronic medical record.
• Perform ophthalmic tests and assist with in-office procedures.
• Scribe physician notes and transcribe into the EHR as directed.
• Educate patients on ocular conditions and care and answer questions.
• Maintain and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and manage inventory.
