Advocate Health is seeking an ophthalmic support specialist to organize exam rooms, prepare patients for exams, and assist physicians in a fast-paced clinic. You will perform basic diagnostic tests, help patients choose glasses or contacts, and maintain sterilized instruments with strict infection control.

The role includes scheduling responsibilities, potential assistance with routine procedures, and ensuring age-appropriate patient care in line with department policies.

Formación

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No previous experience required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification to be obtained within 6 months.

Responsabilidades

• Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking supplies, and equipment calibration.
• Prepares patients for exams and assists physicians; records medical history and chief complaints.
• Performs basic diagnostic tests and visual screenings (e.g., tonometry, visual acuity, color vision).
• Assists patients with selecting and dispensing glasses and contact lenses.
• Maintains and sterilizes instruments; ensures proper infection control.
• Schedules patients for post-operative, surgical, and specialist appointments.
• Assists ophthalmologist with basic or routine surgical procedures and postoperative care when needed.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and communicates patient needs according to department policies.
