Job summary

Magruder Eye Institute seeks an Ophthalmic Technician (Certified or Non-Certified) to support physicians with preliminary exams, testing, and minor procedures in our Oklahoma City clinic. You will prepare rooms, document histories in the EMR, administer eye meds, and assist with instruments to ensure smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates have ophthalmology experience or COT certification, strong communication skills, and a commitment to confidentiality while delivering patient‑centered eye care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in ophthalmology preferred.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary ophthalmic care to patients and acts as clinical assistant to physician.
• Performs complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams, refraction, and other tests.
• Verifies patient information and records in EMR according to standards.
• Checks eye conditions and vital signs as directed.
• Prepares patients for examination and communicates results.
• Maintains patient records and confidentiality.
• Counsels patients on drops, medications, and surgery details.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment and complies with regulations.
• Keeps ophthalmic equipment and supplies in working order.
• Processes prescription refill requests.
• Performs standard patient work-ups with quality service.
• Maintains stock in exam room and sterilizes instruments; prepares for minor procedures.
