Job summary

Ascend Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (Certified or Non-Certified) to support our ophthalmology team. You will prepare patients for exams, perform preliminary testing, assist physicians during minor procedures, and help maintain exam rooms and instruments.

The role emphasizes patient care, accurate documentation in the EMR, and collaboration with clinicians. A high school diploma is required; COT certification is preferred, with at least one year of ophthalmology experience

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year experience in ophthalmology preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary ophthalmic care to patients and assists physicians.
• Performs complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams, sub-specialty tests (refraction, VF test, A-Scan Biometry, Pachymetry, PAM evaluation, color testing, and contact lens evaluation).
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit; records information in EMR per standards.
• Maintains patient information confidentiality and completes medical records and coding.
• Counsels patients on drops, contact lenses, medications, and pre/postoperative expectations.
• Sets up and clean sterile field, assists with minor procedures, and maintains equipment and supplies.
