Job summary

OU Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the Oklahoma Health Center. The role involves performing diagnostic tests, documenting patient history, and maintaining exam readiness.

Responsibilities include taking vitals and referrals under supervision, preparing rooms, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring infection control. BLS is required upon hire; high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience not required; BLS required upon hire.
• Ability to perform ophthalmic tests and document results accurately.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, patient history, referrals, and messages under supervision.
• Collect and document medical/ocular history in EMR.
• Perform ophthalmic tests (Visual Acuity, Lensometry, Tonometry, OCT, and more).
• Prepare and stock exam and procedure rooms.
• Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments.
• Report equipment malfunctions and uphold infection control.
• Transport patients between clinical areas as needed.
• Support patient flow with administrative and clinical duties.
• Uphold patient safety standards in all activities.
