Job summary

The position involves patient intake, routine ophthalmic tests (IOP, motility, visual fields, A-scan, fundus photography, pupillary measurements), and assisting during procedures, plus medication administration, patient education, and scheduling coordination.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years of full time work experience under supervision of ophthalmologic supervision.
• Preferred JRCOMP approved program for ophthalmology assistants.
• CPR and background clearances required (Act 34/33/73 FBI) as part of employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake to include ocular history, medical history, medications and allergies.
• Perform routine ophthalmic tests using instruments to obtain diagnostic data (pressures, motility, visual fields, A-scan, fundus photography, pupillary measurements).
• Assist the physician during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures (in office), including instrumentation, sterile preparations and documentation.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications or diagnostic drops as required by the provider.
• Assist the ophthalmologist with patient education pertaining to prescribed treatment.
• Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments and surgeries.
