Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time ophthalmic technician experience or completion of a JCAHPO-accredited Ophthalmic Medical Technology program.
• Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) within 2 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire.
• Proven attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for chief complaint and obtain ophthalmic history and current medications.
• Perform ophthalmic testing: distance/near vision, corneal tests, and intraocular pressure checks with tonometer and Tonopen; perform visual fields.
• Assist doctors during examinations and minor procedures; prepare for surgery and pre-laser education as needed.
• Maintain sterile exam lanes, stock supplies, and ensure proper sterilization procedures.
• Document in EMR and communicate with patients and staff as required.
