Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician 2 for the Harborview Eye Institute in Seattle. This full-time day shift position involves on-site work and supports comprehensive eye care including imaging, examinations, and procedures under the ophthalmology team.

The role requires an approved ophthalmic technician program and at least one year of experience or equivalent education/experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist and/or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team.
• Complete all ophthalmic imaging tests as ordered by the physicians such as Amler tests; Stero-tests, Applanation tonometry, Goldman Visual Field.
• Perform complex clinical diagnostic eye imaging and procedures within the scope of certification; patient intake activities, routine technical procedures, administer topical medications, assist with procedures.
• Demonstrate proactive, professional communication across and within the department to facilitate smooth workflow, and to ensure department is positively represented throughout the organization.
