Philadelphia Eye Associates in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician to join our on-site team. You will perform clinical tasks including patient histories, visual acuity, and diagnostic testing, and prepare patients for examination by the ophthalmologist.

Qualifications

Philadelphia Eye Associates provides comprehensive and subspecialty (Cornea, Plastics, Refractive) eye care services, including diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of ocular diseases. The practice offers both medical and surgical ophthalmic care, supported by advanced diagnostic technology. In addition to clinical services, Philadelphia Eye Associates performs cataract surgery, LASIK, EVO ICL, blepharoplasty, and cosmetic treatments such as BOTOX, Dysport, and Restylane fillers. Role Description

This full-time Ophthalmic Technician role is an on-site position located in sites within Philadelphia. The Ophthalmic Technician will perform a variety of clinical tasks, including obtaining patient histories, measuring visual acuity, performing diagnostic testing, and preparing patients for examination by the ophthalmologist. Daily responsibilities include assisting with optometry and ophthalmology procedures, conducting OCT, HVF and other imaging, and documenting findings accurately as a medical scribe in the electronic health record. The role also supports patient education on eye conditions, treatments, and follow-up care, while ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient clinical environment. Collaboration with physicians, optometrists, and other team members is essential to provide coordinated, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Background in eye care with skills in Optometry and Ophthalmology to assist with examinations, diagnostic testing, and treatment support.
• Experience performing OCT, visual fields and other ophthalmic imaging procedures with attention to detail and image quality.
• Proficiency as a Scribe, including accurate medical documentation, familiarity with Medicine terminology, and use of electronic health records.
• Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or related clinical role in an eye care or medical setting is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of basic ocular anatomy, common eye diseases, and standard eye care protocols.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and clearly with patients and clinical staff.
• Ability to work on-site full time, manage multiple tasks, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COA, COT, or similar) or willingness to pursue certification is a plus.

Pay Range

• Around $20-30 per hour plus benefits, depending on experience
