Job summary

Socket.dev seeks an ophthalmic technician to join our multi-specialty ophthalmology team in Bloomfield, CT. You will gather patient information, perform preliminary testing (visual acuity, pupillary responses) and support ophthalmologists during exams and minor procedures.

Expected hours up to 40 per week; you will help maintain clinic flow, document findings, and assist with eye drop administration and imaging. A proactive, detail-oriented team player is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven Ophthalmic Technician experience with patient care.
• Knowledge of medical office procedures.
• Ability to perform indirect tasks and administrative duties.
• Certification such as COA preferred or required

Responsibilities

• Gather patient information and assist ophthalmologists with exams.
• Conduct preliminary testing including visual acuity and pupillary responses.
• Administer a range of diagnostic tests and imaging as needed.
• Assist in minor surgeries and laser procedures.
• Manage patient flow in clinic and imaging rooms.
• Administer eye drops and document findings accurately

Your Impact:

• Elevate patient care: Work closely with our ophthalmologists to gather comprehensive patient information, ensuring accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.
• Master ophthalmic testing: Conduct thorough preliminary examinations, including visual acuity, pupillary responses, and more.
• Perform advanced diagnostics: Administer a range of diagnostic tests, such as OCT, perimetry, and ophthalmic photography.
• Assist in surgical procedures: Support ophthalmologists during minor surgeries, laser procedures, and crosslinking.
• Streamline patient flow: Efficiently manage patient flow in clinic and imaging rooms, collaborating with clinical staff.
• Administer eye drops: (Certification Required)
• Contribute to clinic efficiency: Perform clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and organized workflow.
