Job summary

North Star Vision in Springfield, VT seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to assist the Optometrist, perform preliminary exams and medical history, and prepare examination rooms. You will support minor procedures and maintain sterile instruments while using the Athena EHR system.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, BLS, strong computer and customer service skills, and ideally one year of ophthalmic experience to thrive in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Proficiency in computers and customer service principles.
• Knowledge of electronic health records is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as clinical assistant to Optometrist.
• Performs complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams.
• Interviews patient to obtain and record medical history in Athena EHR.
• Prepares patients for examination and assists during minor procedures.
• Maintains rooms and sterilizes instruments.
