Job summary

Spectrum Vision Partners / OCLI Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech – Level 2 to support physicians in delivering high-quality eye care in Fairfield, CT. The role combines patient intake, ophthalmic testing, and real-time documentation in the EMR, ensuring accurate records and smooth patient flow.

You will work within a collaborative team, handling scribe and technician responsibilities, with a focus on patient-centered care and safety in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with EMR/EHR applications preferred; NextGen is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and ophthalmic terminology preferred.
• Previous customer service and/or medical experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong clinical documentation, typing, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and maintain proficiency in both scribe and technician responsibilities.
• Completion of the Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech Level 2 competency checklist within 90 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity, document medical and ocular histories, medications, and allergies.
• Conduct ophthalmic testing and assist with examinations and minor procedures.
• Accurately record provider interactions, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient instructions in the EMR.
• Track testing, medication, and follow-up orders and maintain complete patient records.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; follow infection prevention protocols.
• Coordinate with physicians, technicians, and clinical staff to support accurate documentation and efficient, patient-centered care.

Your Next Career Opportunity - Spectrum Vision Partners / OCLI Vision is seeking a patient-focused Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech – Level 2 to support physicians in delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care.

In this cross-trained clinical role, you'll support patient intake and workups, perform ophthalmic testing, assist with examinations and minor procedures, and accurately document real-time clinical interactions in the electronic medical record. You'll collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to maintain complete records, efficient patient flow, and a positive patient experience.

What You'll Do

• Patient Intake & History: Verify patient identity, prepare patients for examinations, and document medical and ocular histories, medications, and allergies.
• Vision & Clinical Testing: Conduct ophthalmic testing and assist with examinations and minor procedures within training and competency.
• Real-Time Documentation: Accurately record provider interactions, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient instructions in the EMR.
• Orders & Follow-Up: Track testing, medication, and follow-up orders and maintain complete patient records.
• Clinical Operations & Safety: Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; follow infection prevention protocols and universal precautions.
• Teamwork & Patient Flow: Coordinate with physicians, technicians, and clinical staff to support accurate documentation and efficient, patient-centered care.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with EMR/EHR applications preferred; NextGen is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and ophthalmic terminology preferred.
