Job summary

Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island is seeking dedicated Ophthalmic Technicians and Scribes to support providers and enhance patient care in our East Haven clinic. Responsibilities include pre-exam testing, EMR documentation, and assisting during exams to ensure smooth patient flow.

The ideal candidate brings strong communication, multitasking abilities, and experience with EMR systems. Ophthalmology or medical office exposure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• EMR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ocular pharmacology is a plus.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 10 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient history
• Perform vision testing (distance, near, peripheral, depth, color)
• Administer eye drops (dilating, anesthetic, medicated)
• Conduct routine and ancillary ophthalmic testing
• Scribe and document provider findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans
• Triage urgent cases and maintain patient flow
• Prepare exam/procedure rooms and assist physicians as needed
• Perform basic equipment maintenance
• Follow infection control and confidentiality standards

The Role

We’re hiring compassionate and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technicians and Scribes to support our providers and enhance the patient experience.

In this role, you’ll perform pre-exam testing, document patient encounters in the EMR, assist during exams and procedures, and help ensure smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.

You play a key role in helping our physicians diagnose and treat eye conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient history

Perform vision testing (distance, near, peripheral, depth, color)

Administer eye drops (dilating, anesthetic, medicated)
