Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an organized Ophthalmic Scribe to support physicians and streamline patient visits. You will document chief complaints, history, and ocular findings, while ensuring accuracy and compliance during ophthalmology examinations.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, fast-paced healthcare environments, and professional communication with patients. Prior scribe or ophthalmic technician experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Healthcare background or related clinical role.
• One year ophthalmic experience desirable.
• Experience as a scribe preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to follow medical terminology and comply with guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
• Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, and other procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
• Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record; Ensure that letters are prepared to all physicians involved in a patient’s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached.
• Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests. Provide necessary patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
• Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
• Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.
