Job summary

Eye Associates Of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to support providers and the patient care team. The scribe will document clinical encounters, maintain efficient clinic workflows, and ensure comprehensive patient records.

The role requires collaboration with front and back-office staff, knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. On-site, full-time position in our Retina Center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• COA or COT certification required.
• OSC Certification required.
• Sign off by MD/OD as meeting scribe requirements.
• Strong verbal, written, grammar, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient typing skills (40–50 WPM).
• Proficient in EMR systems and medical documentation.
• Ability to learn and operate ophthalmic and laboratory testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Document encounters accurately in a structured, detailed format during patient visits.
• Complete exam documentation including impressions, treatment or surgical plans, coding, and return-to-clinic notes prior to patient discharge.
• Maintain efficient clinic flow and assist with LMS training completion annually.
• Assist providers and staff by interpreting chart notes and answering clinical questions.
• Serve as a preceptor for in-clinic trainees and support team members as needed.
