Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Surgical Tech to prepare the operating room for ophthalmic procedures and assist the ophthalmologist with basic surgical tasks. You will ensure instruments are sterile and functioning, and support patient comfort and safety during surgery.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program or the Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant certification (OSA); CST is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or has obtained Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant certification (OSA).
• Certification preferred: CST.
• Experience with ophthalmic procedures and instruments.
• Knowledge of infection control standards and regulatory guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Provides basic surgical support including room setup and sterile field management.
• Assesses equipment and supply needs for procedures and ensures availability.
• Ensures proper functioning of instruments during procedures.
• Follows infection control policies and regulatory requirements.
• Performs patient education and basic administrative duties as needed.
• Takes ocular measurements and assists with medications as directed.
