Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school education equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in hospital or patient care preferred
  • Certification for Ophthalmic Assistant preferred but must be obtained within two years of employment

Responsibilities

  • Image eye modalities including Humphrey Visual Fields, Goldman Visual Fields, Confrontational Visual Fields, Pachymetry, Fundus Photography/Fluorescence Angiogram/ICG, Blood draws, OCT, Pentacam Topography, IOL Master/Immersion A Scan, B-Scan, UBM, Keratometry, and Manual and auto lensometry
  • Performs manual refraction and auto refraction
  • Performs basic biomicroscopy
  • Demonstrates knowledge of tests and when to use them
  • Dilates patients’ eyes and administers medications per physician orders
  • Performs tonometry
  • Performs surgical scheduling if required
  • Performs stocking and cleaning of exam rooms and maintains clinics equipment
  • Participates in surgical or research studies
