ChristianaCare is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician II for the Ophthalmology department in Wilmington, DE. This full-time role provides advanced clinical support, performing specialized diagnostic testing and imaging (VA, refractions, tonometry, OCT, fundus photography) and assisting with patient evaluations and procedures.

The position includes support for neuro-ophthalmology two days per week, with a scheduled 8:00am–4:30pm workday and a split location with 3 days in Wilmington and 2 days in

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified by IJCAHPO (International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) required or complete certification within 1 year post hire date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association.
• At least three (3) years of ophthalmic technician experience- preferred.
• Performs advanced ophthalmic testing and imaging including visual acuity assessments, refractions, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography.

Responsibilities

• The Ophthalmic Technician II performs advanced ophthalmic testing and imaging, including visual acuity assessments, refractions, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography.
• This role supports Ophthalmologists and Residents by obtaining patient histories, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, assisting with hospital-based and office procedures, administering ophthalmic medications, supporting emergency and inpatient consults, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
