Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Two years of full-time ophthalmology/optometry experience or graduation from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program with one year work experience.
  • JCAHPO certification at COA/COT/COMT preferred; candidate may sit for COA within 12 months of hire; training provided if coming from other medical fields.
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association within 60 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient history and perform initial assessment as directed by the physician.
  • Instill topical medications into the eye.
  • Enter clinical information into EPIC EMR.
  • Assist with neuro-ophthalmologic examination.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures and care.
  • Maintain patient flow and support a team-focused environment.
