Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Two years of full-time ophthalmologic or optometric supervision experience or graduation from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program plus one year experience.
  • JCAHPO certification at COA, COT, or COMT preferred; on-the-job training offered and testing planned within 12 months if trained.
  • BLS from American Heart Association within 60 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient history and perform initial assessment as directed by the physician.
  • Perform diagnostic ophthalmic procedures.
  • Instill topical medications into the eye.
  • Enter clinical information into EPIC, the EMR.
  • Assist the physician with the neuro-ophthalmologic examination.
  • Educate patients and families as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain a patient-focused approach and strong customer service orientation.
  • Work with the neuro-ophthalmology team to optimize patient flow and care delivery.
  • Coordinate with physicians and health care team to deliver optimal patient care.
