Job summary

VisionWorks in New York is hiring an Optician Assistant to assist customers with frame and lens selection and to dispense frames and accessories. You will use prescriptions and insurance details to guide product choices and explain costs to customers.

The role requires a high school diploma, an apprentice permit in NY/MA, and 1–3 months of related experience. Expect a full-time, on-site position with required HIPAA compliance and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have a current New York or Massachusetts Apprentice permit to practice.
• 1–3 months of related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with frame and lens selection.
• Provide accurate product information on frames, lenses and services.
• Inform customers about insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs; discuss options.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories.
• Maintain a clean dispensing area and ensure price accuracy.
• Communicate with lab and optometrist to ensure prescription accuracy.
