Job summary

Keck Medicine of USC is seeking an ophthalmic technician for a full-time, eight-hour day position in Glendale, CA. You will document ocular histories, perform diagnostic tests, and assist physicians during procedures while maintaining equipment and patient safety.

The role requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience, 2+ years in a high-volume ophthalmic setting, and proficiency with ophthalmic terminology, Microsoft Word/Excel, and patient communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/ Associate degree in a related field or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
• 2+ years minimum two to three years’ experience as an ophthalmic technician in a high-volume setting.
• Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and equipment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word & Excel; fast, accurate typing; clear written communication.

Responsibilities

• Document and update patient ocular/medical history in EMR or paper records.
• Perform tests and measurements: visual acuity, tonometry, autorefractometry, retinoscopy, etc.
• Assist physicians during procedures and prepare instruments; manage supplies and sterilization.
• Provide patient education, triage issues, ensure confidentiality, and coordinate with staff.
