Job summary

EmergencyMD seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to greet patients, guide them through visits, and perform diagnostic tests before the physician review. You will document medical history and ensure accurate chart updates while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

You will assist in minor procedures, manage eye tests, and educate patients on medications and pre/post operative care. Strong EMR skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to gather patient information and enter into EMR accurately.
• Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and eye anatomy.
• Comfort with patient education and pre/post operative instructions.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and explain what to expect during the visit.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and perform diagnostic ophthalmic tests (visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry).
• Document chief complaint, illness history, and past medical history.
• Enter data into EMR and maintain patient records with HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with minor procedures and prepare patients for sterile procedures.
