The University of Miami UHealth at SoLé Mia, opening in September 2025, aims to provide high-quality academic medicine to North Miami, Aventura, and surrounding areas. Our team includes specialists from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Desai Sethi Urology Institute, and top neurology and neurosurgery programs.

The Department of Ophthalmic Clinical Services at UHealth - SoLé Mia seeks a full-time Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technologist. The role involves understanding eye care principles, documenting in EMR, and performing diagnostic tests per departmental standards.

Core Job Functions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with regulations.
  • Prepare exam rooms and examine eyes for abnormalities.
  • Measure intraocular pressure and axial length using ultrasound.
  • Test visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth, and color perception.
  • Document patient histories and instruct patients on eye care.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT scans, B-scans, fundus photography, and corneal topography.
  • Accurately record test results and prepare patients for tests.
  • Follow safety and infection control protocols and adhere to policies.

Core Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Technician (COT), or Technologist (COMT).
  • Certifications such as CRA, OCT-C, ROUB, or CDOS are preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
