Job summary

Frantz EyeCare, established in Fort Myers, FL, is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician. The role involves taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests (OCT, visual fields, FAs, fundus photography), and supporting doctors during in-office procedures.

Qualifications

• Duties include but are not limited to: Obtains patient history and chief complaint, checks vision, instills eye drops and charts procedures for medical records/EMR.
• Performs diagnostic testing including OCTs, visual fields, FAs, and fundus photography.
• Fields patients’ questions during visits and via phone, providing advice and resolving problems in consultation with the doctors.
• Uses, cleans, and maintains equipment and supplies appropriately.
• In accordance with doctor's orders preps and assists with any needed in-office procedures.
• Submits patients’ prescriptions and prescription refills, with physician’s approval.
• Scribes and assists doctors professionally and promptly with office procedures and patient care.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures (OCTs, visual fields, FAs, fundus photography) and document results in EMR.
• Assist with in-office procedures and patient care as directed by physicians.
• Manage patient questions and provide guidance during visits and by phone.
• Maintain and sanitize ophthalmic equipment and supplies; ensure readiness for procedures.
• Process prescriptions and refills with physician approval.
• Support doctors in a professional and efficient manner to ensure smooth operations.
