Florida Health Care Plans in Daytona Beach is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant - Technician for the ophthalmology team. This full-time, first-shift role involves preparing patients, performing tests, and documenting results in EPIC, Kalidoscope, and PACHS to support the Ophthalmologist.

Ideal candidates have JCAHPO certification preferred, strong English communication, CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days), and at least one year of ophthalmic experience.

Ophthalmic Assistant - Technician

Practice Management - Ophthalmology

Full-time

1st shift

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function is to prepare each patient for the appropriate ophthalmic exam and/or procedure, perform all appropriate tests, both routine and those ordered by the Ophthalmologist. Compile appropriate documentation in EPIC, Kalidoscope, and PACHS (Electronic Health Records) and to compliment and facilitate the Ophthalmologist as much as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, skills and experience:

  • Certification by JCAHPO preferred.
  • Clear English communication skills, written and oral.
  • Current Professional Rescuer CPR certification (only acceptable programs are American Heart Association and the American Red Cross) or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment required.
  • One year or more experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant in an Ophthalmology or Optometry practice preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ascan/Bscan preferred.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with ophthalmic equipment and procedures such as a projector, tonometry, keraomerty, pachometry, slit lamp, PAM, glare testing, auto refract, Humphrey Visual Field, corneal topography, fundus photography, and ocular coherence tomography, etc.
  • Dependable transportation with the ability to travel to various locations required.
