Job summary

Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC, seeks a compassionate Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmologists and optometrists in patient intake, documentation, and clinical scribe duties.

You will perform pre-exam testing, enter data into EPIC EHR, assist with scheduling, and help maintain a safe, welcoming clinic environment.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma; COA certification within 18 months and BLS; a strong ethic for patient confidentiality is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; COA certification within 18 months.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of medical ethics and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist ophthalmic providers with patient care, intake, documentation and scheduling.
• Enter information into Epic and maintain medical records.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity and tonometry.
• Open/close exam lanes and maintain supplies.
• Educate patients on medications and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Coordinate with staff to schedule appointments and referrals.
• Support scribes as needed.
